2024 facts of Lahore PGC incident

It  is claimed by student of Punjab College Campus 10 that  On October 11 2024, a 17 year old female  student of HSSC-ICS student  at Punjab College, Punjab, Pakistan, was raped by security guard of college at the parking basement of college.

The victim was transferred to hospital and said to has been shifted to ICU in a critical condition.

         Student rally after a rape  is reported on social media over the weekend. Student in eastern Pakistani city of Lahore have continued their protests after reported of protest on college campus.

  Massive protests erupted in various campus of PGC  spread across the Lahore on October 14.

Security guard working for the college was arrested by Punjab Police from Sialkot, while other suspects van driver is still missing.

On the same day keeping in view the whole condition and on the demand of student federation of Pakistan Provincial Minister of Education of Punjab Rana Sikander Hayat suspended the registration of College.

  Student demands that all campuses of PGC should be shut down until the victim is not  arrested and badly punished.

Cm Punjab Maryyam Nawaz claimed that  there is not such incident is reported. Its was just a propaganda  by opposition  to disrepute their government. further she advised to Education Minister that he has to confirm the incident before cancelling the registration of PGC.

Further more  the government of Punjab ordered to enforce section  144 across the province for two days, effective form Friday, October 18 , to Saturday October 19, to control the students. 

On other hand The Cm of Khyber Pakthonkhwa Ali Ameen announced that protests will be  in every district and city of province. 

Incident:

    According to student of college, the college van driver reportedly tricked and locked the victim student  in the basement of college to tell her about her pending fees. The security guard, whose name is given as Aun, raped the victim until a teacher heard her screams and came to rescue her. The guard escaped while the victim was rushed to a hospital in a deteriorating condition.

Protests:

           Massive protests were observed in Lahore with severe clashes between the students and police.27 students were injured due to the baton charge with 1 student being shifted to the Service Hospital due to his critical condition. 4 police officers were injured during the counter-attack. Many students and media personalities from all over the country started various online movements and hashtags for justice on social media sites. Aurat March  a popular rights group, requested the Punjab government  to take actions against the "atrocity." Protests erupted in major metropolitan cities i.e Rawalpindi, Sargodha etc of Punjab on 16th and 17th October, rejecting the press conference of CM Punjab and demanding a through investigation. Protesters attacked PGC Buildings in some places as well. Police used brute force such as rubber bullets and tear gas shelling on protestors.

More than 250 students was arrested by Punjab Police to get on the students and to stop the student. but thousand of  students continued their protest during the serve shelling. Condition is getting more critical and Hundred of student are badly injured by Punjab police to get control over the students. 

As per report students did damage to building and transport about of 90 crore, further more students also claiming that powerful unknown personality is also involves in this incident but college administration and News channel trying to save that personality to order to protect the grace of PGC.  

Investigation:

          On 14 October 2024, a 7-member committee headed by the CS Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman, was formed on the orders of the CM Punjab Maryyam Nawaz. The committee was given a deadline of 48 hours "to investigate the rape crime at the Punjab College for Women.
